FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is regulation?

When I say I build my sets to regulation standards, it means I built them to the common specification set by the American Cornhole Association. See below (Important items are bold):

Section A. Equipment Standards - The ACA has adopted the following equipment specifications and standards for cornhole / corn toss:

1. Each cornhole platform shall be a 48" x 24" rectangle made of half inch plywood. ACA sanctioned tournaments should only be played with wooden cornhole platforms as there is significant variance in play between wooden and plastic or other surfaces.

2. The hole in the cornhole platform shall be six inches in diameter and be centered nine inches from the top and 12 inches from each side of the cornhole platform edges.

3. The front of the cornhole platform shall be approximately 4 inches from bottom to top and be at near a 90-degree angle to the ground.

4. The back of the cornhole platform shall be approximately 12 inches from bottom to top and be at near a 90-degree angle to the ground.

5. The cornhole platform should have solid wood sides with the only opening to the underside of the cornhole platform being through the hole in the cornhole platform. Although portable fold-down platforms are acceptable (with open sides), platforms with solid wooden sides are preferred for ACA sanctioned tournament play as it is sometimes difficult (especially late in the day) to determine if a corn bag was pitched into the hole or came to rest under the cornhole platform by being pitched through the open sides in a cornhole platform.

6. The cornhole / corn toss play surface shall be finish sanded to a very smooth texture and there shall not be any blemishes in the wood surface that might disrupt or distort play.

7. The cornhole / corn toss play surface shall be painted with a high gloss latex paint resulting in a surface that allows corn bags to slide but is not so slippery that it allows the bags to slide back down the platform. The preferable color is white, but any easy to see color is acceptable for tournament play.

8. The corn bags shall be made from two fabric squares with a quarter inch double stitched seam on all four sides. The corn bags should be made from 12 oz / sq yd duck canvas and may be any color that is easy to see during cornhole play. Each bag shall be filled with approximately 2 cups of corn feed and finished bags should be a minimum of 6" x 6" square and weigh between 14 and 16 ounces.

How long does it take to ship?

I ship via UPS. It usually takes less than a week from the day I drop it off. When I ship you your set, you are promptly provided with the tracking number - this way you could track your set's journey all the way to your doorstep.

How long have you been doing this?

I’ve been doing this in all of my free time for 3 years. I’ve gotten it down to a science at this point.

Can you make the smaller, tailgate boards?

Of course I can. Just let me know when you order, and we could work something out. If you want 6-foot boards, I'll make those two. It's custom - tell me what you want, and I'll let ya know if it can be done.

Are your logos decals/stickers?

Nope. I take pride in the fact that I stencil off the logo onto masking tape — then cut out the logo from this masking tape and apply paint to underlying areas (see ‘custom work’ page to see my process). It’s not only more authentic and homemade than a sticker/decal, but it adds a sense of pride. However, some instances will require a decal - such as when a decal has "fading" effects in it, or there are way too many colors for me to stencil.

What’s the turnaround time?

Sometimes the same day, sometimes within a few weeks. I try to keep a fair stock of basic boards to deal with the volume sometimes, but certain points in the year deplete this stock causing me to play catch-up with the orders - this dilemma occurs during and just before every major holida.

Do you make your own bags?

Yes, I do. I have dealt with several different suppliers for bags over the last couple years, and it all comes down to this: "Nothing is gonna be as good as I'd like it to be, unless it is done by me." If you want some bags that are specialty with heat pressed logos, or embroidery, let me know. I know a few people who specialize in bags, and only in bags.

Can I choose what bag colors I want?

Yea, just let me know. Typically I have a stock of neutral colors that will match with just about any set.

Why do you frame your set with 1x4’s? aren’t 2x4’s stronger?

Yes, 2x4’s are stronger, but they also hold up houses. I don’t feel it’s necessary to have them hold up a 10-lb piece of plywood...not to mention nearly double the weight of the boards. Contrary to popular belief, it is not a cost issue. The 1x4’s I use are choice white pine, and are actually more expensive than 2x4 studs used by many. Nonetheless, if you would like to have your set built of 2x4’s instead, just let me know...remember, I do CUSTOM work.

Are your boards slippery?

If you get a polyurethane coating, yes, the boards will be slick. My basic $115 set does not include a polyurethane coating on them, and are therefore not too slick. Also keep in mind that regulation standards call for a “high gloss finish” so, if you’re competitive, I’d recommend the polyurethane coating. If you get a custom logo’d set, I will usually put a coat of poly on there to protect the logo. If that will upset you, please let me know.

How much do the boards weigh?

They are about 20-lbs per board. When I ship sets, the box contains two regulation boards and eight beanbags and it all weighs 55-lbs.

Do you ship internationally?

yes. Though, shipping is still the responsiblity of you - I will work with you as much as I can to save you money. I have shipepd a few for soldiers over seas, a few sets to canada, and have even shipped out to new zealand.

Do you build them yourself? Or do you order them from a manufacturer?

All the sets are built by, and only me. I don't outsource any of my boards. The manufacter is me. The tailor who makes the bags is me. The painter is me. The Logo Applicator is me. Me doing everything is the only way to insure that my product it as the level it should be.

How far do you deliver?

As far as needed. If you want me to deliver a set an hour away, I will take into consideration the idea that it may be more feasible to ship them via UPS than it may be for me to actually hand-deliver it.

How much is delivery?

Like the delivery/shipping page says, I only ask a few bucks for gas. But nowadays, a "few bucks" isn't a good way to describe gas prices. I live in the northwest side of chicago, and seems $20-$30 is more than fair for me to deliver to you if you live within a half-hour.
